Void

Void is a dream I’ve been having for the past couple years. Each time the dream is a little different, but there have always been a few common elements: a place for those on the fringes of belief, a church that’s not a church, a truly open and non-evangelical space, a space that’s not dominated by any one person.

It appears those dreams may begin to come into reality. Of course, there’s always a difference between the dream and the reality, but I think the true purpose of the dream is to bring about action. To act. To create. To begin. To move forward without knowing exactly where we are going. That’s what I’m doing right now.

Currently, a few of us are working on a project inspired by the concepts of theodrama and transformance art developed by the Ikon collective and Peter Rollins. Of course, our desire is not to replicate Ikon, but rather to take some of their work and allow it to provoke our own imaginations and inspire our own creativity.

We are calling this project the void collective and we are planning our first event for Monday, February 16, with Peter Rollins present as our special guest. I hope you will go ahead and put this on your calendar and plan on joining us. We are fairly sure about the location, but it’s not fully confirmed at the moment, so I’ll have to wait to announce the time and location.

I hope some of you will consider joining us as we embark on this experiment.  I do believe it’s a worthwhile venture.

More to come…
